The China top 500 private enterprises summit 2019 was held in Xi’ning, capital city of Northwest China’s Qinghai Province, on Aug. 22, 2019.

Themed with “remembering entrepreneurs’ aspiration and standing firm with patriotic ambition”, the summit was co-sponsored by the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC) and the people’s government of Qinghai Province, and supported by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) and the State Council Leading Group Office of Poverty Alleviation and Development (LGOPAD).

ACFIC’s chairman Gao Yunlong, vice chairman of the the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Wang Jianjun, general secretary of the Qinghai committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), Tang Jun, vice minister of the SAMR, Hong Yianyun, vice minister of the LGOPAD, and Ma Xianghui, director general of the small and medium sized enterprises department of the MIIT, addressed on the summit.

Xu Lejiang, vice minister of the United Front Work Department of CPC Central Committee, secretary of the party leadership and executive vice chairman of ACFIC, made a keynote speech.

Liu Ning, governor of Qinghai, attended.

The summit, hosted by Fan Youshan, vice chairman of the ACFIC, released a list of the 500 top enterprises in China in 2019, followed by a release of relevant analysis report, which was announced by Huang Rong, also ACFIC’s vice chairman.

In his speech, Gao Yunlong said that the development of the private sector in the past year received lots of attention, among which was the private entrepreneurs’ symposium presided over by President Xi Jinping. President Xi pointed out that the private sector was an interior factor of China’s economic system; a batch of outstanding entrepreneurs was awarded “reform pioneers” on the meeting commemorating the 40th anniversary of China’s reform and opening-up; President Xi even wrote a reply to the entrepreneurs awarded for “ten thousand enterprises helping ten thousand villages” campaign. All these actions in the past year had brought new impetus to the healthy development of the private sector, which made entrepreneurs heartened and encouraged.

Gao stressed that to build a strong modernized socialist country and realize the national rejuvenation required people from all industries to work together.

He asked private entrepreneurs to keep confident with economic development and actively tie corporation future with the national resolution, and said that only in this way could private enterprises take roots into the profound soil of the national and display their special value.

He asked them to keep polishing their specialties to promote high-quality development. Private enterprises should focus on improving quality so as to maintain competitive advantages in a long run. In the meanwhile, they should make efforts in technology research and innovation to improve competitiveness in core areas, which is a national strength that can not be bought or asked.

He said that we need to not only introduce, digest and innovate new technologies but also have the courage and aspiration to achieve innovations of our own.

He also asked enterprises to return society by carrying out the socialist core values and make obligated contributions for society as a creator and beneficiary of social wealth.

Gao pointed out that 2019 is the decisive year to build a moderately prosperous society in all respects.

One of the reasons why holding the summit in Qinghai was to promote the development of the west regions including Qinghai Province.

He hoped that more entrepreneurs could visit and learn Qinghai so as to invest here, which is a promotion for the implementation of the national strategy of western development.

The private sector is an important force to promote social progress, and an important subject in promoting the supply-sided structural reform, high-quality development and building modernized economy.

He asked private entrepreneurs to unite together around the central government, never forget their original intention and mission, and strive to create new achievements worthy of history and times, as a way to contribute to the victory of building a moderately prosperous society in all aspects and rejuvenating the Chinese nation.

Wang Jianjun extended welcome to the guests on behalf of the Qinghai people’s government and the CPC provincial committee.

According to him, the summit was prepared with a long period with strong leadership and excellent top design under the same goal of presenting outstanding achievements.

He said that, the process of negotiation on big issues, new things, difficult matters, and exchanging on good news, and solid actions all displayed the entrepreneurship spirit in the ACFIC and all entrepreneurs attending the summit.

He said that letting Qinghai to hold the event was a gesture of trust and confidence in Qinghai, which was also an honor of development confidence and opportunity of friendship and wisdom.

He hoped that the entrepreneurs attending the summit would value the chance and the “Qinghai Initiative” to sharpen the brain, refresh the spirit, expand horizon, and explore potential future business opportunities.

Xu Lejiang said that Chinese private enterprises, as reflected by the top 500, had shown the resolution and achievement in carrying out the new development concept and in making high-quality development, in dealing with various challenges brought by the fast changing and complicated international and domestic circumstances. And they had made a generally stable progress compared with 2018.

The top 500 enterprises of 2019 had grown in assets, scales, quality interest and industrial structure’s upgrading, with more stable steps of “going global” and rising awareness of self-innovation and abiding by the law. Some giant corporations had maintain the good development momentum, while many attached greater importance to shouldering social responsibilities.

Xu stressed that today’s world was undergoing deep changes unprecedented in a hundred years. The new situation faced by China also presented new requirements for private enterprises.

He asked entrepreneurs to be confident with future while stay alert to risks and dangers, to stick to the principle of self-innovation in speeding up transformation and upgrading, to abide by the law and be honest, to practise the concept of protecting ecological civilization and green development, to strengthen brand awareness and benefit from improving quality, to promote opening up and win-win development, and to return society by fulfilling social obligations.

He asked them to combine individual aspirations with national dreams of rejuvenation.

Fan Youshan released three lists on the summit. Huawei, HNA Group and Suning Holdings Group were the top three of the top 500 Chinese private enterprises 2019. Huawei, Amer International Group and Hengli Group were the top three of the top 500 Chinese privately-owned manufacturers 2019. HNA Group, Suning Holdings Group and Hengli Group were the top three of the top 500 Chinese private enterprises from the service industry 2019.

Huang Rong released the analysis report on the top 500 Chinese private enterprises 2019, according to which the threshold of entry was continuously raised, super-large enterprises had continued to grow, the level of profits was improved, social contributions continuously increased, the industrial structure was continuously optimized, the pace of going global was accelerated, and the total export volume was achieved a significant increase in 2018.

In the past year, the top 500 private enterprises had focused on industry and doing fine main business, adhered to independent innovation, enhanced core competitiveness, strengthened quality brand construction, took the initiative to participate in the national major strategy, played a good "three major battle", and promoted their enterprises to achieve high-quality development.

Liu Yonghao, chairman of the New Hope Group, Liang Wengen, vice chairman of ACFIC and chairman of SANY Group, Zhu Jianmin, vice president of the All-China Chamber of Industry and Commerce(ACCIC) and chairman of Oxiran, and Teng Tai, dean of the WANB Institute and chairman of the WinBro corporation, made speeches on the summit.

ACFIC’s vice chairman Li Shufu, also chairman of the Geely Group based in Zhejiang Province, read out the proposal of China's top 500 private enterprises, on behalf of the top 500.

Besides the main forum, the summit also had symposiums themed with “eco-environment protection and green development”, “poverty alleviation cooperation between east and west China”, “building harmonious employment”, “financial service help develop private sector”, and the development conference on promoting Qinghai Province to realizing high-quality development and life by putting priority to environment protection.

Leaders from the ACFIC and Qinghai provincial government and CPC committee attended the summit, while related department chair persons from the UFWD, MIIT, SAMR, LGOPAD and ACFIC, along with representatives of the top 500 Chinese private enterprises attended relevant activities.
