  Shi Taifeng addresses the congress opening

  

The third overseas Chinese industrial and commercial congress opened on October 30 in Beijing. Shi Taifeng, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and head of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Central Committee, attended the congress opening and delivered a speech.

  

  

  

Shi Taifeng pointed out that since the 18th CPC National Congress, the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core has grasped the general trend of development at home and abroad, united and led the Chinese people in overcoming various risks and challenges, made historic achievements and changes in China’s economic and social development, and embarked on a new journey to comprehensively promote the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation through a Chinese path to modernization. Since the beginning of this year, in the face of a complex external environment, China has introduced a series of policies and measures to stabilize growth and promote sustained recovery of the national economy. Facts have proved that the Chinese economy remains resilient, with strong potential and vitality, and that the fundamentals for its long-term growth remain unchanged.

  

Shi highlighted the global presence of Chinese businessmen, who possess strong economic capabilities, abundant intellectual resources, extensive business networks, and deep-rooted social connections, and have unique advantages in helping China promote high-quality development and build a new development paradigm with high-level opening up. He hoped that overseas Chinese businesspeople will grasp the trend of the times, conform to the development requirements of the situation, actively participate in China’s modernization efforts, contribute to the high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative, promote exchanges and mutual learning between Chinese and other civilizations, and become outstanding representatives of the overseas Chinese business community in the new era.

  

Gao Yunlong, chairman of All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), attended the opening ceremony.

  

The congress was co-organized by Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council, All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese and the ACFIC. More than 400 overseas Chinese from over 100 countries and regions attended the congress.
