On October 27, the second Cooperation Fair for Construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle was held in Chengdu. The conference thoroughly implemented the important instructions of Chinese President Xi Jinping on promoting the organic integration and coordinated development of the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle. Wang Hongyan, vice chairman of All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, Lu Hong, a member of the Standing Committee and head of the United Front Work Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Chongqing Municipal Committee, and Zhao Junmin, a member of the Standing Committee and head of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee, attended the cooperation fair and delivered speeches. John Lee Ka-chiu, chief executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and Lei Wai Nong, secretary for Economy and Finance of the Macao Special Administrative Region, made speeches via video link.

 
         Wang Hongyan said that under the strong leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle have become “frontiers” for seizing the strategic opportunities and building the new development paradigm, as well as important regions to show the strong resilience and vitality of the private economy. This fair will play an important role in promoting the coordinated and integrated development of all parties. She hoped that we will grasp the general trend of development, take a long-term view, draw on each other’s strengths, strengthen our confidence in development, and strive to be a new force for promoting coordinated development among regions. We should actively carry out joint technological innovation, promote innovation in industrial cooperation mechanisms, and become the vanguard of innovative development. We should run first-class enterprises, constantly strengthen and improve internal governance of enterprises, establish and improve the modern enterprise system with Chinese characteristics, actively build harmonious labor relations, devote ourselves to social undertakings, promote high-quality employment in high-quality development, and strive to create a new model for fulfilling social responsibilities. Governments at all levels hoped to continue to create a business-friendly policy environment, a fair and transparent legal environment, a fair and competitive market environment, and a business-friendly social environment, so as to mobilize the enthusiasm of more business entities and create more outstanding achievements.
 

          This fair is an important platform to further promote cooperation and exchanges between the Sichuan-Chongqing region and the Greater Bay Area since the first exchange forum was held and the Sichuan-Chongqing-Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Enterprise Cooperation Alliance was established, according to John Lee Ka-chiu. The government of the Hongkong Special Administrative Region will actively promote Hong Kong’s integration into the overall development of China, strive to align with national strategies such as the Guangdong-Hongkong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the Belt and Road Initiative, make good use of Hong Kong’s advantages as an international financial, shipping and trade center, and contribute to the high-quality development of the country.
 
  
           Lu Hong extended congratulations on the meeting on behalf of Chongqing Municipal Government. She said that Chongqing, as the only municipality directly under the central government in China’s western region, has a unique and important role in the country’s regional development and opening-up pattern. At present, Chongqing is coordinating its construction as one of China’s pilot cities for business environment innovation and promoting the expansion of the comprehensive trials for further opening up of the services sector, which provides a rare opportunity for entrepreneurs from Sichuan, Chongqing, Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao and overseas Chinese businessmen to invest and start business. It is hoped that we will find new cooperation opportunities, write a new chapter of development and create an open and prosperous future.

          Lei Wai Nong said that with the deepening of major national strategies such as the Belt and Road Initiative, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the Hengqin Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone and the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle, Sichuan and Chongqing will play an increasingly important role in promoting Macao’s integration into the overall development of the country, and the emotional bond between Macao and the Chengdu-Chongqing region will become increasingly tight.
 
        Entrepreneur representatives from Sichuan, Chongqing, Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao made speeches on the conference, including Choi Koon-shum, co-founder and chairman of Sichuan-Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Entrepreneurs Cooperation Alliance, chairman of the Hong Kong Chinese General Chamber of Commerce and chairman of Sunwah Group, Margaret Fong, the executive director of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, Ho King Lun, president of the Industry and Commerce Association of Macao and chairman of Anzac Group Company Limited, Hu Dezhao, chairman of Guangzhou Baiyun Electric Equipment Co., Ltd., You Hongtao, chairman of Pharscin Pharma, and Wang Qi, chairman of Qiyang Group. The fair has signed 10 projects with a contract amount of 26.17 billion yuan.
